About Me

I grew up in Williamsburg, Virginia and received my Bachelors degree from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia in 2001, majoring in Psychology. From there, I moved to San Antonio, Texas to attend St. Mary’s University and received a Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2004.

Since then I have been providing therapy to adolescents, families, and couples in various settings.  I have received additional training in Emotionally Focused Therapy, Functional Family Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, crisis intervention, and substance abuse and addiction.

I am a wife and mother to two small children and have been living in the Dallas Fort Worth area since 2007.

My Approach

My approach is warm, supportive, and collaborative.  I understand the decision to start therapy is not always an easy one, but I feel passionate about helping people feel comfortable with themselves and their relationships.  I believe the relationships we have with our loved ones are vital to our personal and emotional well-being.

I specialize in treating couples and families who are struggling to stay close and connected, and I use Emotionally-Focused Therapy to foster greater intimacy and trust in their relationships. EFT is one of the most empirically validated models of couples therapy and has been shown to significantly reduce distress in relationships.  EFT is short term (on average 8-20 sessions) and helps couples identify their negative cycles of interaction, so they can develop new patterns that encourage more receptivity and security within the relationship. I believe that taking the time to focus on your relationship is a worthy investment that will be rewarding for years to come.

While it is usually ideal to have your loved one(s) with you when addressing relationship issues in therapy, I understand this is not always possible, or necessary.  Individual therapy is also an effective way to improve the quality of your relationships, and I am happy to support my clients in that journey.

My Practice

I treat couples, families, and individuals in weekly therapy sessions. The initial session is $120 and all following sessions are $100. I do not accept insurance, but I can provide an invoice at the end of each month for you to submit to your insurance company.

Please contact me for a free consultation to determine if my practice is the right fit for you.
